Yeah that’s not cute…
Noticed a trend of dudes calling themselves “slackers”.
I was trying to understand why that’s a cool thing to do, or why that would be appealing to others, especially women.
Maybe it had some other meaning? Like it’s slang for something else?
I don’t know…

A tongue in cheek response to all those articles about feminism killing marriage, relationships, etc…and making men seem mostly “useless” or “lazy” because they don’t have to be accountable like they used to.
This comment gave me hope:
I always get amused by the argument of, “If you don’t quit your feministic ways, you’re never gonna find a man.”
Who says I was looking?
To be perfectly honest, I did look for a while. And it occurred to me one day: why do I need a man? I really don’t. I’m not saying that men are inferior, but how could I call myself a complete human being unless I could be happy in my own skin? So I dedicated myself to being the best person I could. I worked my butt off, striving to be a great teacher. I learned Muay Thai and sparred with bodyguards for a while. I taught myself to drink and cuss like a sailor. And, along the way, I met a man who was intrigued with the woman I became. A man who is still intrigued after 10 years of marriage (even though I still cuss like a sailor, drink other men under the table and let him beat me in wrestling).
I would have been more happy being a single, complete woman than a half-woman dependent on a husband. Thankfully, I got to be a complete woman with a wonderful guy who was man enough to be my partner, not my master. If a woman has to pretend to be less than she is to make her husband feel like more of a man…he wasn’t much of a man to begin with.
Welp.
It’s true that the world is changing. Some institutions and cultural activities will have to evolve along with everyone else.
Feminism did have its part, as did the prevalence of technology, minimal physical jobs…all of that.
Dudes especially will have a tough time of finding their way, hearing the message of “be a man” when these days “being a man” really just means “being an adult.”
