Meant to toss this out there, not sure I ever mentioned this here, but I make mixes of P’s music for people to listen and learn. It’s an opportunity for me to play in Photoshop (I rarely get to these days) and dig through all these boots I hoard but sometimes don’t listen to (I have about 4 terrabytes worth but am taking my time going through it AND I’ve only scratched the surface of his stuff!)
My mixes are combinations of concert rips (by the faithful bootleggers), outtakes, and official releases. To me all his live stuff is INFINITELY greater than the studio stuff so I like to include those wherever they fit.
Main goal though is to let people know there was 30+ years of music after Purpl.e Ra.in and a the majority of it was PHENOMENAL. You have to know that Fairy God Boyfriend is incredible if I co-sign him…you KNOW how high my standards are…
Co-worker asked me to make a mix of guitar heavy songs. This was the result. Recommended while in traffic and needing to rock out to something to balance your road rage.
My most prevalent vibe just as a person is very mellow. This playlist is has a mellow vibe. Play while it’s raining.
This is for dancing and for producing a funk face while listening. Kind of relentless. Not mellow at all so maybe play this while you’re cleaning or something.
If I were crass, I’d say this was a “F” mix, but I am not crass. I don’t believe in listening to P to seduce people mostly because your girl will want to do him and not you, but…if you want to risk it…
Just wanted a reason to make a mix that included more recent stuff. Again people like to say he hasn’t done anything good in the last couple of years…these are some picks that I enjoy.
