Ohno? Oh yes!
According to my roommates, I am the only black person in America that watches the Winter Olympics.
I don’t care through, because they are both entertaining and mind broaden..ing.
History was made last night. Shani Davis was the first African American to win an individual gold in a Winter Olympic Sport. When asked how he felt about being his historical accomplishment, he said, “it’s great.”
“That’s it,” asked the reporter.
“Yeah,” said Davis.
The reporter as well as the news casters in the studio were puzzled.
Aside from the fact that he was probably annoyed that he had to be the token black person, there’s a lot of drama on the US speed skating team.
For the most part, speed skating is an individual sport. People train together sometimes, but you’re really out for number one. With this king of mentality, a lot of speed skates have a lot of ego, and I don’t think this Davis character or his “teammate” Chad Hedrick are any different. They say speed skating hadn’t really been integrated that much, which made Davis’s winning even more of a big deal. People didn’t really consider him to be much of a threat because he was black, and it seems like he used that as an excuse to alienate himself from Team USA.
Breakthrough Win Tainted by Bitterness
I think they’re are two sides of this story, one that says “it’s because I’m black” the other just plain hateration. Take both of these with a grain of salt.

Still though speed skating, especially short track is a sexy entertaining sport. THEIR THIGHS ARE THE SIZE OF MY ENITRE BODY! DO YOU KNOW HOW POWERFUL THOSE THINGS ARE!?!?! AND THE WAY THEY BRUSH THE ICE WHEN THEY GO INTO THOSE TURNS?!?! ESPECIALLY THAT APOLO ANTON OHNO, HE’S NOT ESPECIALLY CUTE, BUT HIS MANNERISMS! AND FROM THE SHOULDERS DOWN?!?! GOOD GRACIOUS!!!! YES SIR!
