Did anyone notice how huge the moon was this morning? I hear the full moon last night was in Cancer so watch out everyone! You might be a little more testy than usual.
The parents are in town for Baby Jesus’s birthday.
I was actually surprised, they came a day early. I was talking on the phone to my homie (lol) and somebody knocked on my door around midnight. I was like “da hail?!” It turned out to be the makers of me. I hadn’t answered the house phone when it rang because I didn’t recognize the number. Turned out it was the number from the security gate.
Oh well, they still got in anyhow…
So far, my mother has been okay…yesterday I was ready to jump off my balcony, but luckily they’re only staying until Wednesday. Daddy’s been very helpful with fixing things around the house I hadn’t gotten around to yet (ie installing fans, putting together furniture, fixing the car). I tell you, I’m thankful they came so I wouldn’t have to be alone for Baby Jesus’s birthday, but LAWD forgive me, I ‘m reminded why I was so anxious to move out…
There’s a new playlist for Radio KaNisa. Most of the songs on there have been featured before, but they were worth bringing around again as it is wonderful music. Here are a few new artists I included this time around:
Chrisette Michele
I think she sounds like a female John Legend in that they have the same kind of tonal quality. She’s a bit more jazzy though. She came out with an album this summer, but it didn’t do too well. It’s not for her singing talent though, she’s fantastic! I guess the world isn’t ready for a sound like hers.
Ledisi
I have no idea if her music is played on widespread radio as the only stations I listen to are Howard University’s adult contemporary station and the dc “smooth jazz” (aka mostly adult contemporary) station, but I really like this sound. I guess I’m a sucker for Jazzy R&B tempos…
The entire Soul Lounge Vol.1 Album
I love, Love, LOVE this album! It is my album pick for 2007. Virtually every song on this work has high repeat value…and not one of them are on the radio. I say we need more of what’s on this album and less of everything else that’s on the radio…
I really wish neo soul got more play. The music of the 60 and 70’s hasn’t gone anywhere…it was really just renamed and pushed to obscurity where you have to go to suspect type places to get the good stuff…
Kind of like those places where you can a huge plate of seafood for like 5 bucks…it tastes DELICIOUS, but don’t ask to see the kitchen…
