A Need to Laugh and Learn

This had me rolling…

Saw the trailer for the movie Rent yesterday.

It’s funny, unless you knew what Rent is already, you’d have no idea what the movie was about by watching that. It was montage of clips from the film that really didn’t let on to what it was about. It was also intermixed with shots of the cast singing Seasons of Love.

Haven’t seen the play, but I have the soundtrack just because I liked some of the songs we learned in a musical theatre class I took. I don’t even really know much about the plot except that it has something to do with a 19 year old drug addict, a person with AIDS, a female who is at the mercy of her own sexual appeal, something to do with homosexuality and that it was set in New York.

Also Taye Diggs is in it. He’s reprising the role of “Benny,” the same role he played on Broadway. For some reason, I can’t imagine him singing for real, but I guess we’ll see.
