Branching Out
So an old co-worker reached out asking if I was going to see Purpl.e Rai.n in the theatre. They had an extra ticket to a midnight show.
If you know me, you know I’m not about going anywhere on weekdays, ESPECIALLY not that late. I be tired after a day of people-ing…
But it was for His Royal Badness so I mean…it’s basically like he was like…
You gotta do what he says.
So I said…
Not too long after this, Ti.nder dude asked if I would go with him to the same event. His was at 9. (Both shows were sold out).
I told him I was already going but appreciated the offer.
I made a mistake…
My mistake was…
THAT I DIDN’T GO TWICE BECAUSE IT WAS INCREDIBLE!
TOTALLY appealed to my U.X sensibilities…they could have pumped it up slightly more, but it was still a fantastic time!
They had an arch of purple balloons in front of the theatre!
Everyone got purple necklaces!
They had Rasp.berry Beret and Purple Rain cock.tails!
They had a slideshow of The Sultan of Shade before the show set to music (this is the only part where it could have been pumped, in volume and in song selection)!
They showed a MTV interview from around the time the movie came out before it started, and he was WONDERFULLY quiet and thoughtful!
During the movie, everyone SCREAMED just like a real concert during appropriate parts!
Everyone sang along and danced in their seats/in the aisles.
Depending on the show, glow sticks happened!
IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!
If you have an artsy theatre or one where they do interactive Rock.y Horr.or shows in your city and they have a showing of Pu.rple Rain, GO! Even if they don’t do the extra stuff, having a crowd be really into the movie with the screaming and singing is an incredible experience!
I hope they do it at least twice a year! (June 7 and April 21).
