I am not a big Prince fan, but I do like some of his songs. I used to think he was having one over on us with his guitar solos. His fingers flew, but it just sounded like noise to me and I became convinced he couldn’t really play. When he was ranked one of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time by his peers (#33) in Rolling Stone in 2011, I was shocked, until I stumbled upon this all-star performance of While My Guitar Gently Weeps at George Harrison’s posthumous Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.

Ah yes. That’s classic! It’s hard to take him seriously sometimes just because of his rock star persona, but he’s a seriously talented musician who really can play almost every instrument ever…and usually does. I also admire how diverse his stuff is and how he is different.
He’s quite a character! So much talent packed in such a small package! I can’t imagine that he’s my height!
