From Penny Thornton

There will be two eclipses in February and the first takes place on the 7th. It is an annular eclipse, which means the moon will cover the centre of the sun, leaving a ring (or annulus) around its edges. All solar eclipses involve the moon passing between the Earth and the sun but only a total solar eclipse completely covers the sun. It may be a little too late to join the expedition observing the eclipse at Mount Vinson in Antarctica but if you live in the Pacific South West, New Zealand or South East Australia you will catch a glimpse of it. As for what it means, solar eclipses spell new beginnings, almost always brought about by extraordinary and sometimes difficult events.
