Nor would I, since I don’t even use Facebook. But if I did, I might. Facebook is desperately trying to monetize its enormous people database and I think personal searches is a good idea, or at least one that Google can’t compete with easily. People are always looking for recommendations or someone to lead or the little push they need to do something. It is not much different from reading customer reviews when shopping on Amazon.com.
ReplyYeah but I feel like they’re trying to address a need that isn’t really a need…in a way that’s different than how Facebook in general attracts so many people.
By itself Facebook is a “convenient nice to have.”
This extra layer just seems like they’re trying too hard.
ReplyIt is more than about attracting people, it is also trying to get people to stay longer. And if they do and for the intended reason, then property value should rise since advertisers will be able to hone in on their Facebook targets even further.
And they have to try hard, or at least appear to be, since they have shareholders to answer to now. And that, sadly, is now the bottom line.
