Stories

My mother is a fan of her “stories”.

And by “stories” I mean Soap Operas.

Some of these shows have been around for 40+ years, but most of them have been cancelled!

Kind of interesting they lasted as long as they did….all new every weekday except holidays…maybe too expensive?

Maybe there aren’t a lot of people home during the day to watch them?

Maybe they’re no longer relevant?

Lots of people earned their chops in Soaps…

WELL

Mother says some of the characters are the same, but a lot are new.

Will these “stories” of yesteryear survive?

I’m kinda curious about them myself…might check them out.

I really only remember names and faces from “nap time” when I was little…

I used to watch The Young and the Restless when I was in junior high and high school thanks to my sister, who was addicted to it and General Hospital. Some of the story lines then became so popular that they made the news regularly and people tuned in with bated breath to watch them. The ratings soared. When I lived in the UK, I watched Eastenders (thanks again to a female). British soaps then (and perhaps still) were completely different from American soaps. Light on genteel glitz and glamour, heavy on rural and working class grease, grit and wrinkles.
