Young Grasshopper continues to do well

Did dinner this weekend, and got these as a result.

flowers

First time I’ve received flowers from a guy at the ripe age of 28.

Very thoughtful!

Might be time to tighten up a tad…not trying to wreck people.

Can’t even tell if that’s normal or not…getting flowers for making dinner…

Home search has false starts and no starts.

So two homes were shortlisted so far. This one $209 :

  • The “fixer upper” foreclosure from the other day
  • Had trouble getting in touch with my Realtor and financial team.
  • House went pending before we finally got everything together.
  • Submitted anyway and got my first official rejection. She says in case it falls through, they’ll be aware of us.
  • Planned to go in low with a 10k construction loan on top for enhancements
  • Decided since it fell through, probably won’t pick it up again because ain’t nobody got time to be fixing things up like that.
  • Also cocaine happened about two doors down according to crime reports
  • And registered sex offenders are literally on every street over there
  • My life

And this one $225 :

  • A few streets over from the previous house
  • Sold for 165 (forclosure) LAST MONTH
  • Investor painted and replaced a few things and relisted at 225
  • Mostly the updated version of the previous property…with a mostly finished basement
  • Has all the same questionable neighborhood issues
  • Would likely not budge on the price due to comp selling recently for 235
  • With all the taxes, payments, insurance, utilities…not trying to pay what i was paying in rent in DC

For both of these, I’m pretty sure they’ll be worth crazy money soon. The original builder of these homes is buying up properties in that area again and will be putting down a lot of new homes in the next year. For me, living by myself in big homes like these doesn’t seem like a good idea…especially if i’m planning on renting in the next few years if I find a husband anyway. School district is not good enough for a family to rent a place like that…besides the charter elementary school.

Nice knowing ya just outside of Decatur city limits with your crazy taxes and random crime!

SOOO mostly back to square one…or square two?

Now looking back to the west side.

And backtracking on the idea of a townhome.

Likely still interesting payments as with these what you don’t have in higher principals, you do have in higher monthly payments due to HOA fees.

Sent a few over to my realtor.

We’ll see what she finds out.

It wasn’t a flowers for dinner exchange. Young Grasshopper would have brought you flowers even if he was picking you up to go out. That is normal (or should be) when someone likes you.

The neighbourhood looks quaint and the leafy trees and birds chirping really adds to the ambience. A pity about the dodgy people living nearby. Are they brick homes?

They all have this siding…I don’t know what it’s made of. Here’s a gallery of their homes : http://stoneyriverhomes.com/gallery/exteriors

Thanks. Some of the homes are beautiful. Hard to tell, but in some of the pictures, it looks like vinyl siding with a wood grain. Looks good from a distance, but a bit of a turnoff up close unless it is made of real wood.
