Weekend Funsies with the ‘rents

Dave Koz and nem

We went to the Dave Koz and Friends Christmas concert which was AWE.SOME!

There was a 20 minute section just for Snoopy and nem!

Sheila E was 5 feet from me and she looked me in my eye for a full 8 seconds!

Javier Colon sang Man in the Mirror!

And of course Dave Koz was his wonderful self!

I also loved that a school brought a group of kids to see them! I was walking behind them as they exited the theater and they were so excited and impressed by the concert!

Open your ears youngins! Jazz is waaaay more than elevator music!

I TOTALLY recommend seeing this concert if it comes to a venue near you!

House Hunting

Took them to see properties by the builder I was raving about. We were only able to see the new construction as my realtor (unsigned) was out of town and so couldn’t show the re-sales. I tried to find another one to help me out, but apparently they have a bro code. They don’t show properties if you have one already both because it’s a waste of their time and because of realtor etiquette.

I still say they should be like my one friend…she’ll agree to show the property, but only if you sign an agreement that she gets the commission if you put an offer in.

Bleh…

So yeah we just peeked in the windows of the properties I mentioned a few entries ago and we went inside the new ones.

My parents preferred that builder by far.

We browsed some other builders, but the quality didn’t come near to my first choice.

Daddy made a good point in that buying a brand new townhome at 180 in a neighborhood where that’s the top end of the market is a bad idea.  It’s better to buy for a steal at the bottom end of an expensive neighborhood as there’s more cushion there in value.

The market in Atlanta is  still struggling so properties that were 230-250 brand new are now selling for 150-160…but even then, the most expensive home by that builder in that neighborhood was half a million.

Also, the quality at 150 by this builder is still much better than the quality of new construction at 180 by another builder.

So yeah STALKING listings by this builder for the next couple of months…

Movies

Took Daddy for his inaugural visit to Cinebistro (Mommy has been before). I treated them and spent about 100 bucks.

Totally impressed and ruined them for normal movie theaters as usual.

We saw Lincoln.

Other Weekend Happenings

The ‘rents headed out Sunday morning. We had a fun time!

After they left, I headed to a Christmas Caroling excursion at a nursing home. It was uneventful but still pretty fun. My group had a show at another home during my parental visit, and had an incident involving a man and his penchant for removing his pants around women…

But yeah overall, pretty fun-filled weekend!

Caroling Kanisa, that’s really sweet . . . I can just picture it, sort of. Giving of time is much more valuable than giving of money, but still, allow me to present My Third Annual Salvation Army Donation Log on Kanisa’s Blog . . .

    28 November, 19h00, LCBO – $3.05 CAD

Goal is to beat the 2011 total of $19.51 CAD (can’t find the 2010 log). I am off to a slow start.

      Total = $17.10

A bit disappointed, as I had hoped to surpass last year’s total ($19.51). On a few occasions, I arrived late to the shops and the Salvation Army person had already left. I did give to some other charities though. Better next year.

    Lovely. These themeforest templates…

I’ll look for the overwrite in the CSS.

That was quick. Would have taken me forever to find the fix.
