I believe that Georgia Tech has self esteem issues.

Every year we play Georgia, and every year we lose (in recent years anyway).

Regardless, we always swear up and down that we’re better than them, and we even dedicate an entire weekly newspaper to the bashing of that university (sic).

Why?

I mean I know U(sic)GA is an agricultural school where they study farming and pigs and such things, but is that so wrong? So what the students there might date their cousins…or that they’ve never heard of things like differential equations or capitalization…

I mean, it doesn’t make them bad people, right?

Though our athletic teams may never be able to overcome deeply ingrained issues of nerdish inferiority in the face of the Athenian jocks, I am a firm believer that overall Georgia Tech students are the most well rounded, highly educated, and successful young people to come out of Georgia public colleges for a few reasons:

Most of us leave Georgia. (Unlike those people in Athens who usually return to their rural towns as evidenced by the large population of U(sic)GA people in South Georgia.

We are all nerds in some sort of way. (All the studying pays off in the end as the average starting salary for a Georgia Tech grad is 65k).

We marry outside of the family. (Nuff said)

You may whip us in football, basketball, and most other sports, but in the words of the illustrious movie “Bring it On”:

That’s alright, that’s okay, you’re gonna’ pump our gas someday.

To Hell with Georgia.

Note: This entry was written in the spirit of Yellow Jackian’ in me. I may have graduated, but it’s still my alma mater.
