House Hunt and related updates

Housing Market Update

Decided to go after one of the townhomes.

Got a fuzzy feeling when we walked in…especially since the entire place was wired with SPEAKERS!

Forget music listening room, we’re talking a music listening HOUSE!

Kinda cool…

This one is a Fannie Mae foreclosure that’s in pretty good shape, at least cosmetically. Inspections will tell the tales.

In the meantime, everything is updated granite on all the countertops throughout, stainless steel, nice hardwoods.

Currently in a bidding war. Supposed to submit highest and best offer by tomorrow morning.

Getting super nervous!

Feels like report card day…

We’ll see what happens!

Taking a holiday

And by taking a holiday, I really mean just taking a few days off around the Memorial Day holiday we already get.

No plans to actually go anywhere. We’re going to production with an app I’ve been working on for the past year so it’s my “celebration” to take some time off. Actually think it won’t be much of a break at all though. Parents were already coming to town for a concert and some Atlanta Jazz festival stuff, but if I win the offer round, we’ll be doing some inspections and appraisals this weekend. I really will need a vacation after the vacation as time with family is usually just as stressful as work…and potential house happenings are going to be lumped on top of that…alas.

What are vacations anyway? I need to learn how to take one of those in real life…

European Adventures

Sisters are traipsing around Europe on their 2 week whirlwind excursion. I was invited, but of course am counting my pennies for Homestead 2013. They’re keeping everyone updated through Groupme with pictures and things.

Not going to lie, 70% of the reason why I wasn’t too keen on going is that plane ride. I don’t like being on a plane longer than 2 hours, no way I could handle falling asleep, waking up, and having 5 MORE HOURS TO GO.

I’d go crazy…

There is so much out there to see, and you’ll miss out on it all if you don’t learn to fly. Most flights to Europe are through the night, so you might sleep for longer than you think. Onboard movies, music, newspapers, magazines, computer games etc. will keep you busy the rest of the time. Or take an Ambien . ..

        Lovely.

Meanwhile, just found out I lost the offer on my last foray.

        0 for 2!

It was a bidding war, so presumably you offered more than the asking? Did you find out what the winning bid was, and if so, would you have been willing to go higher than it?

Well actually nobody won. They rejected all the offers apparently which is interesting.

I offered listed price, but asked for the closing costs to be paid which would have put it in line with the area comps.

I’m mostly surprised that they didn’t counter at all…I wonder if they would have if I was married or something. I could more than afford it on my own, but they don’t get that kind of info I guess…

It was a Fannie Mae Foreclosure.

That does seem odd. Couldn’t your real estate agent do something, or at least find out why there was no counter? You seemed really high on the place. It would be a pity if you couldn’t get another crack at it.

If it’s still on the market June 8th (and if nothing else comes up) I’ll try again. I need to be under contract on something by June 15th to not have to extend my lease…

        Here’s hoping!
